German Village Art League is requesting visual art submissions for the second annual, "The Language of Art: A Collection of Poetry and Visual Art" in the Carnegie Gallery at the Columbus Main Library. This year's Visual Art Jurors are The Ohio Art League Gallery Director and Organization Administrator, Eliza Jones and Professor of Visual Communications at CCAD, Walter King. The Poetry Juror will be Scott Woods. The Carnegie Gallery curator is Stephanie Rond. Selected visual art will be exhibited alongside a poem by a local poet that reflects their experience with the art.

Artwork Submissions
GVAL offers its members the opportunity to submit 2-3 images that describe their personal artistic language. Text and writing may be included in the piece as long as it is not offensive. The selected work will then be assigned to a local Poet to express their interpretation or voice. Each Poem will also be presented next to the specified art.

Visual Artwork Submission Guidelines
1. Each artist may submit 2-3.jpeg files of 2d and or 3d work made by the artist and is work created within the last year.
2. • 2d works must be smaller than 4ft(h)x 30”(w).
• 3d work must be smaller than 32”(h) x 30”(w)x 30”(w) and can be presented on a pedestal.
3. Title each jpeg "lastname1.jpeg" ex:"ross1.jpeg, ross2.jpeg, etc.
4. Each submission should be in jpeg format and no larger than 5"x7" 200ppi.
5. Complete full entry form and email artwork to entry@gvartleague.com.
6. Entry fee waived for 2010 German Village Art League Members.($20 membership)
7. Entry fee for non-members. ($15)
Acceptance notification emailed July 30th, 2010
GVAL takes 20% commission of all sold work.
A PO Box is available.

Poets should submit no later than June 30th, 2010
Poets will be informed of acceptance and assigned artwork by July 30th, 2010
Poems for the exhibit should then be completed by August 15th.

Poetry Submissions
This year the Language of Art's poetry portion of the exhibit will feature work based on the visual art that is juried and selected for exhibition...ekphrastic poetry! Poets who are chosen to participate will be randomly matched with a piece of art from the show. Poets may write in any style as long as it is not offensive and as long as the poem is no longer than one page in length. The poems will be placed next to each of the assigned artwork for the duration of the exhibit. Poets have the option to read their piece during the opening reception but it is not mandatory.
If you are a poet and would like to be considered for this year's exhibit please submit two (2) poems by email to Scott Woods at sewoods1@yahoo.com.
